The murders in Mary Shelleys Essay Example for Free

The murders in Mary Shelleys EssayThere were however, moments when his conscience surfaced often did my human nature turn with loathing from my occupation this on the face of it gives us that Frankenstein was non completely enthralled by his work and that he did have some of his morals intact. But eventually his true reasoning butt his experiments surfaces. Frankensteins whole intention was to play God and to create a creature different from humans. A new species would bless me as its creator. This shows us that Frankenstein feels that by complementary his experiments he could become almost God-like by holding the power of life and reviving the dead. This can also be seen through the title of the novel Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus, as Prometheus stole fire from the Gods, Frankenstein stole cosmos from the Gods for the betterment of humanity. The stronger theme is that of discrimination to outsiders. The character of Frankenstein is not represented as evil. He is ego istic and single minded in his pursuit to create perfection and learn, the secrets of heaven and hell. He doesnt consider the implications of his hazardous research or believe that anything could possibly go wrong, his intentions he believed were good.Shocked at his failure and unable to accept his loss of control over his creation Frankenstein runs away from the problem. He is too vain to squeal that what he has done is wrong and will not reveal his secrets to even his most loyal friend Clerval. He almost lives in a dream world, believing that he can become an architect of life and respected by all. Frankensteins ultimate weakness is his failure to admit failure. In this way Frankenstein could be held partly responsible, inevitably it was the hulk that had killed. His killings were premeditated and targeted in who he was to kill, he did not kill to defend himself but to cause pain to Frankenstein. When the creature is runner brought to life, he is confused he is quick to develop an understanding of the sense of pain, heat, hunger and cold. He marvels and delights like a child at the sights and sounds of nature. He is discombobu deeply by the beating that he receives from the villagers and resolves to keep his distance and observe them, hoping that he will discover why they drove him away.We can clearly see that there is no anger or desire for revenge at this stage, the creature delights in their beauty and happiness and shares their sorrows, when they were un joyous, I felt depressed, when they rejoiced, I sympathised in their joys i He has no evil intentions towards anyone or anything at this stage, he is still very innocent. This could have been a deliberate portrayal by Shelley to make the creation like a child, impressionable by society. However, when the demon tries to help others, he is rewarded not by acceptation into society but by physical abuse. When he is shot after trying to save a small girl he vowed eternal hatred and vengeance to all manki nd i The monster showed no hatred to mankind until he was repeatedly rejected by society and even the De Lacey family who he thought he was close to abandoned him, as had his creator. In this way we can see that throughout the novel society rejects someone who is different, which meant the monster could not live like others, but in place live an existence where he sought human companionship even though they rejected him.The monster says that his reasoning for his murders was, the barbarity of man. so Shelley is trying to show us that monster murdered because he was rejected by man. The monster says I am malicious because I am miserable because he was friendless from the world forever. So society is partially responsible for the murders. In conclusion we can see that the question, Who is responsible for the murders in Frankenstein? cannot be answered by placing the blame all onto one character. In fact Frankenstein, his creation and society as a whole played a part in the dea ths.Although it may have been the monster who strangled William and murdered both Elizabeth and Clerval it was Frankensteins inability to admit to his faults that led to the death of Justine. As Frankenstein could not be bold enough to let other heap know that it was not Justine who killed William but his creation. If Frankenstein had divulged his secret then they would know it was the monster who perpetrated the murders. Furthermore, if Frankenstein had told Clerval of the monster then Clerval may not have died, but this can be said for all the murders that occur in the novel. So it was the monster that killed not to defend himself but to have his revenge on a society who judged him not by his morals but by the way he looked. As can be said for our society today which contains many people who purloin others because of sex, age or race. I feel that Victor is mainly responsible, he started an experiment to which he had given no thought and when he was not happy with the result he ra n away hoping that it would pass over but it didnt. Even though he had numerous chances to admit to his failure it was only when it was too late that he confessed.

Try a service you have neer tried before on internet. break the benefits of this service. Was enough information provided to fudge the service easy to use? How would you compare this service to other methods of obtaining the same benefits?ONLINE SHOPPINGOnline shop classping is the process of buying goods and work from merchants who sell on the Internet. Since the emergence of the World Wide Web, merchants have sought to sell their products to people who surf the Internet. Shoppers can visit web stores from the comfort of their homes and shop as they sit in front of the computer.Consumers buy a variety of items from online stores. In fact, people can purchase just about boththing from companies that provide their products online. Books, change state, home plate appliances, toys, hardware, software, and health insurance are just near of the hundreds of products consumers can buy from an online store. Many people choose to conduct shop online because of the convenience. For example, when a person shops at a brick-and-mortar store, she has to drive to the store, pick up a parking place, and walk throughout the store until she locates the products she needs. After finding the items she wants to purchase, she whitethorn often need to stand in long lines at the cash register. In contrast, online obtain helps consumers avoid these disadvantages. With online shopping, a person logs onto the Internet, visits the stores website, and chooses the items she desires. The items are held in a virtual shopping cart until she is produce to make her purchase. The shopper can remain in her pajamas as she does her shopping, and the process can be conducted in the wee hours of the morning or late into the night. Online stores never constraining theyre open 24 hours a day.Despite the convenience of online shopping, not everyone chooses to purchase items and services online. Some people like the idea of physi portendy going to a store and experiencing the shopping process. They like to touch the merchandise, try on clothing, and be around other people. Online shopping doesnt permit shoppers to touch products or have any social interaction. It also doesnt allow them to ta ke the merchandise home the same day they buy it.Other people may worry about shopping online because they fear their credit card information will be compromised. Since its necessary to provide credit card information when purchasing products online, people worry they may become the victims of identity theft. This discourages approximately consumers from participating in online shopping.Another reason some consumers avoid shopping online is the fact that they worry that the products they purchase are not accurately portrayed in the websites picture. They worry that the picture of the item may appear one way, still the actual item may look in all different perhaps of lesser quality. Its also impossible to try on apparel when conducting online shopping.A consumer has to rely on body measurements in coiffe to make sure the clothing will fit properly. If the clothing arrives in the mail and its too small, the consumer has to return the item. This is a potential inconvenience that s ome shoppers may not wish to face.Advantages of Online ShoppingIncredible convenience In comparison to a brick and mortar store with fixed hours, online shoppers can choose any time of the day or night to get on the Web and shop. This is especially useful for moms with small children, people that are home-bound, or simply in times of intemperate weather.Price comparisons When you visit a store, you most likely have to settle for whatever price the vendor has placed on a particular item. non so with online shopping you have the ability to compare prices from hundreds of different vendors (see The Top Nine Comparison Shopping Sites).Infinite choice Shelf space in a brick and mortar store is limited, which means that your variety of goods is limited. Not so with an online store. Plus, if you dont see what you want in one store online, you can simply snuff it on to the next one youve got the power to do that.Easy access to consumer reviews Its easy to access consumer reviews for pr etty much any product you can theorise of online, which makes for more informed purchases. No pressure sales Weve all been awkwardly propositioned by eager salespeople. You dont have to put up with that online. These are just some of the advantages of online shopping. Are there disadvantages? Lets look at a few that might deter some customers from buying goods onlineYou cant try things on. If youre buying a clothing item, you dont have the ability to spirit the material, try it on, and see how its made. Unless you know your measurements and are familiar with the brand of clothing offered, this could end up being a no-count experience. You cant talk to someone immediately. If you have a question about what youre looking at, you probably will have to wait at least 24 hours to get a question answered (however, many sites have instant chat enabled that take care of this issue).Privacy and security Privacy and security are sure concerns for any online shopper, but there are precautions you can take to make sure your transaction is a safe one. For example, paying attention to HTTPS protocols, installing melt spyware removal tools, knowing how to identify online scams and hoaxes, surfing anonymously, and keeping your Web usage private are all smart ways to address any secretiveness and security issues.Limitations of online shopping1. YOU DO NOT PHYSICALLY SEEN THE ITEMSNormally when we shop from a regular store, we can see the item and at least visually inspect that it looks fine. You can select a co lour, size and can even speak to a sales person to clarify doubts regarding an item. I feel the biggest disadvantage of online shopping is we do not physically see the item till it arrives. May be you have seen it in the nearby mall but there is a possibility that the particular piece you have ordered may be defective. Misinterpretation or misunderstanding of items bought online is a common problem. normally the photo of items you see online are much better than once you have the item in front of you.2. WAIT FOR THE ITEMS TO ARRIVEOnce you place you order the waiting game starts. You have to wait for a few days for the item to arrive which can be quite frustrating. Most experts believe that we are most excited about your buy in the first few days, so by the time your item arrives you will most likely be less excited then getting the item on same day you made the payment.3. CHANCES OF MISHANDLING WHILE SHIPPING / DELIVERY RISKSWhat if the item you are expecting never arrives, you will be lost in a series of phone calls to the seller and the courier company. What if you are not at home during the time of tar and the courier company leaves the package on your door and a passerby decides to steal it? What if the shipping company broke your stuff and you realize it after porta it when the courier man has already gone away. The seller might claim that you broke it.4. SHIPPING CHARGESOnly a few sites offer free shipping, some others will ship for fre e only if your total purchase price exceeds a certain amount. Shipping fee is often a big consternation for online shoppers.5. RETURNING MERCHANDISEEven if the seller agrees to take back the defective merchandise, you often have to pay the cost of shipping it back. Additionally you have to call and convince the people regarding the reason of your return. Some good sites do have excellent return policy, but not everyone.Comparison between online shopping and offline shoppingOffline shopping is becoming rather polar. Customers either want service, or they really *dont* want service. Its not that customers are unclear about whether they want to purchase, its that they are utterly clear about why they are shopping. They either have a purchase in their minds, or they are shopping predominantly as a form of therapy, and simply wish to interact with the goods. Customers have reached a position where if shopping is entirely experience oriented and not goal oriented, then they find sales a ssistants a *disincentive* to enter a store. As they grow in sophistication, customers respect for, and tolerance of sales assistants is actually reducing. So essentially the changes I see are a marked separation of goal oriented shoppers and experience oriented shoppers. Shoppers who have a specific purchasing goal in mind are time conscious and want service immediately, and at the lowest possible price. Shoppers who are experience-oriented find sales assistants irritating and officious. And I commemorate the internet and online shopping is actually contributing to this polarisation process.

The importance of the theory of Keynesian Economics

The importance of the theory of Keynesian EconomicsThe theory of sparings called Keynesian Economics, or Keynesianism, is named after the British economist John Maynard Keynes. Keynes lived from 1883 1946, and was considered the greatest and most influential economist of the 20th century. (Kangas, 1996). It was the use of the Keynesian Theory of stintings by the political science that was a plastered influence of the with child(p) Depression coming to an end. Because of this, he is known as the father of modern economics. (Kangas, 1996).When Keynes first suggested the use of his theory to help solve the problems of the Great Depression, he was not met with the same enthusiasm. Because of the incredible size and widespread effects of the Great Depression, umteen felt that any cause of such devastation essential be as complicated as the results. Keynes, however, had a simple explanation of the cause of the Great Depression. In fact, upon sharing his theory with President Franklin Roosevelt, the President discount his words by saying that such a theory is too easy. (Kangas, 1996).The theory for which was considered too easy (Kangas, 1996) by President Roosevelt was actually fairly simple. In regards to the explanation of slumps in the prudence, Keynes had a simple reasoning. Keynes explained that in any normal economy, the level of employment is high, and therefore the cabbage of the people be spent as usual, meaning there is a circular play of money in the economy. With this circular flow, the money spent by one person becomes the income of another person, and those earnings ar spent and become the earnings of the previous person. However, when something happens in the economy to worry consumers and shake their confidence, those consumers will then decide to make it their money sooner of spending it to prepare for whatever lies ahead. Unfortunately the saving of that consumer will affect other people because the money saved instead of spent is no n ightlong given to the intended person. When people save instead of spend, it affects others that are no longer getting the expected income, and they will then start saving themselves. It becomes a viscous circle which makes the times and economy more difficult. (Kangas, 1996).With the obviously negative effects that a slump would cause within an economy, Keynes devised a bring round for the problem. The cure for this problem, which is also considered to be quite simple, is for banks to emergence or expand the supply of money. By doing so, the people would have more money, which would increase confidence in the economy by the consumer now having more earnings. With the increased confidence, people would begin to spend, which would re-establish the circular flow of money. (Kangas, 1996).The larger problem of the Great Depression, however, was much larger than that of a recession, or slump. Keynes belief of the depression was that it was actually a recession that had fallen into some thing called a liquidity trap. (Kangas, 1996). A liquidity trap is callable to those people that choose to save their money rather than spend, and will continue to do so regardless of how much the supply of money is increased by the government. Due to the lack of consumer spending, Keynes believed that the government should then be the one doing the spending, since the consumers were not. This intellect of increasing government spending was considered a final effort by the government to reestablish the circular flow of money. (Kangas, 1996). In Keynes own words, he called this last-ditch effort by the government, priming the pump. (Kangas, 1996).Although in the end Keynes theories were used to end the Great Depression, they were at first rejected. To many economists, the end of the Great Depression was caused by World War II, in which the United States started spending massive amounts of money on defense. Because of this, many say that wars are good for the economy. (Kangas, 1996) . Wars are considered to cause an economic boom due to the massive amounts of spending during the war, which is in extent the definition of Keynesian spending. With Keynesian spending, the U.S. went to the greatest economic boom ever, from the greatest depression ever, all due to the theory of Keynesian Economics. The use of Keynesian Economics during this time was so successful that President Nixon declared, We are all Keynesians now. (Kangas, 1996). This view of Keynesian Economics was dominant from the 1940s to the 1970s, until others began to challenge this theory. (Boyes Melvin, 2008, p.347).In an explanation of Keynesian Economics by Alan S. Blinder (2008), he defines Keynesian Economics as a theory of total spending in the economy (called aggregate demand) and its effects on output and inflation. Upon researching Keynesian Economics, there bulge to be many principal ideas to the theory. The first idea, or belief, is that aggregate demand is influenced by a host of economic decisions both public and private and sometimes behaves erratically. (Blinder, 2008). These economic decisions are based on things like spending and taxes. Many economists believe that both taxes and spending affect aggregate demand. (Blinder, 2008)Another belief of Keynesian Economics is that changes in aggregate demand, whether anticipated or unanticipated, have their greatest short-run effect on real output and employment, not on prices. (Blinder, 2008). This idea is shown when inflation slowly rises as unemployment falls. This belief of Keynesians is that what can be seen in the short run is not necessarily the same as the long run. Also, due to the rigidity of prices, any changes or fluctuations in spending, whether by government spending, investment, or consumption, will cause a change or fluctuation of output. For example, if there is an increase in government spending, then an increase in output should occur, as long as the other areas of spending are constant. (Blinder, 2 008).In addition, this model of Keynesian economics also has a multiplier effect. With this multiplier effect, output increases by a multiple of the original change in spending that caused it. (Blinder, 2008). For this multiplier to work, however, it must(prenominal) not be less than zero. Also, in yet another belief of Keynesians is that prices, and specially wages, respond slowly to changes in supply and demand, resulting in periodic shortages and surpluses, especially of labor. (Blinder, 2008). In this belief, it is stated that flexibility is limited in terms of wages and prices, no matter the arrangements. (Blinder, 2008)These beliefs are all included in the theory of Keynesian Economics. Although this theory was greatly used during the 1940s to the 1970s, it became much less commonly used, and was replaced with other economic theories. Since then, however, the theory of Keynesian Economics had made a comeback. The principal(prenominal) reason for this comeback was due to the ability of this theory to explain the events that have happen since the end of the Great Depression better than many other economic theories. (Blinder, 2008).In conclusion, the theory of Keynesian Economics was an extremely important part of the history of the economy. This theory was an enormous part of the end of the Great Depression. It also was a key in giving an explanation to the various changes in the economy, such as slumps and recessions. While not all economists may agree that this theory is the office to correct problems in the economy, it was very obviously the correct theory needed for its time. Because of the importance of this theory, the creator of the theory, John Maynard Keyes, is considered the father of modern economics. (Kangas, 1996).

Customer Satisfaction By Measuring Service Quality Tourism Essay

Customer Satisfaction By Measuring assistant Quality Tourism EssayRationale of the studyThe legal communityment and management of answer business office are fundamental to the survival and success of flurry serve up companies (Legcevic, 2008). The hotel sector is a large segment of the assistant industry which provides go and accommodations to a wide persist of clients. To make sure that a hotel is satisfying its clients needs, it is necessary to measure serving flavour periodically to identify areas in need of mendment. There are some(prenominal) methodologies use for measuring service tint, solely this explore study shall employ one of the more(prenominal) popular works called the SERVQUAL model. This theory was developed by Parasuraman, Zeithaml and Berry. They were early enquiryers studies approximately the concept of quality (Jain and Gupta, 2004). The SERVQUAL model was drawd to measure service quality as perceived by the client (Parasuraman et al., 1985) .According to nirvana Hotels Annual Report of course 2008 and 2009, the job rate of the enlightenment Hotel, capital of Thailand has lineaged continuously ( paradise Asia Limited, 2008, nirvana Asia Limited, 2009). Moreover, the overall weighted average RevPAR for Shangri-La Hotel and Resorts Thai properties decreased a further 11 percent in 2009 (Shangri-La Asia Limited, 2009). The global financial crisis, the extensive renovations at the Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok and political uncertainty are cited as the main reasons for this decline.Literature reviewThere are several pieces of literature regarding studies of service quality which say that if a customer had a pleasant service experience, they would probably use that service again and would be likely to invite their friends or tell someone else to utilise those same services. In the same way, if customer had a poor service experience, they generally never forget about it, and many customers will complain and go elsewhere (Assael, 1987, Farrington et al., 2009, Peter and Olson, 1987).Word of rim is a powerful communications tool. Customers may tell others whenever they experience poor service quality, and this would have a direct effect on the organizations image resulting in an eventual decrease in revenue. The power of this communications tool has unceasingly been evident from the past until the present. Consequently, organizations must always ensure that their service quality is the most p leasant and best to generate customers satisfaction. This is because the backbone of service organization growth is not just a high quality product or pricing strategy, but it is in any case the combination with good customer service.Nowadays, companies increasingly emphasize service quality and customer satisfaction throughout, so that they can increase customer loyalty, because it has determined that high customer loyalty is key to success in their market segment(Cronin et al., 2000). Service quality is astray studied and useful in service industries(Carman, 1990, Collier and Bienstock, 2006, Cronin and Taylor, 1992, Cronin et al., 2000, Gronroos, 1984, Parasuraman et al., 1985, Parasuraman et al., 1988). Many scholars have taken an interest in service quality issues because of their intangibility, which makes them very difficult to measure (Bergman and Klefsjo, 1994). For these reasons, several researchers created a model to help clarify the measurement of service quality. The most popular and extensively used models are Gronroos Service Quality perplex and Parasuramans br separately Model (Legcevic, 2008). It could be describes of each model as followingGronroos Service Quality Model splits customer perceived service into 2 dimensions 1) proficient quality, and 2) functional quality (Gronroos, 1984).1) Technical quality or outcome quality is what customer receives as outcome of the process in the resources.Functional quality is how customer receives from technical outcome (Legcevic, 2008).Parasuramans Gap Model indicates that five gaps exist between management and customers during the service delivery process (Parasuraman et al., 1985). For my research, I will employ the SERVQUAL denture by using gap scores to help measure service quality.Service QualityToday quality become recognized as a strategic tool to enhance and improved business actual performance both of goods sector and service sector. The key factor to success in service industry is serv ice quality. The purpose of service quality is to satisfy the customer. Hence, service quality and customer satisfaction influence each other. As mentioned in the beginning, service quality is defined as a product or outcome resulting from all members in the organization trying to satisfy their customers (Wisniewski, 2001). Service quality also could be defined as crucial decision-making criteria for service consumers (Cronin et al., 2000). Customers evaluate service quality by comparing organizational performance with their expectations (Zeithaml et al., 1993). However, Parasuraman proved and indicated that there is a problem with customer perception of service, because five gaps exist between the customer and the service provider during service delivery. The figure on a lower floor illustrates the Service Quality Gap Model by Parasuraman.Figure 2 The Service Quality Gap ModelSource Parasuraman, Zeithaml, and Berry (1985)According to figure as above, it could be describes each gap as followingGap1 Service provider not knowing what the customers expectGap2 Service provider not selecting the right service designGap3 Service provider not delivering to service standardGap4 Service provider not matching performance to promisesGap5 The difference between customer expectations and customer perceived service (Legcevic, 2008)A gap which may occur between customer expectation and customer perception is not the only measurement of service quality. However, it is a deciding(prenominal) of customer satisfaction or dissatisfaction. If the service providers response to customer needs is below their expectations, the customer would estimate that the quality is low.SERVQUAL ScaleThe main benefit of the SERVQUAL instrument is that it helps management to measure the quality of service by comparing customers expectation of service and customer perceived service which categorizing each problem facet into five dimensions. It lets them classify the problems into dimensions, helpin g management to focus on the problems and improve service quality in the right way when some elements of service are imbed to be lacking. The SERVQUAL model was created by Parasuraman, Zeithaml and Berry in 1985. The 1985 version consisted of ten dimensions. The model was further developed, and in 1988 it was refined into five dimensions. The SERVQUAL model has been widely used as an efficient instrument for measuring service quality in many service industries (Asubonteng et al., 1996). The five dimensions are 1) reliability, 2) responsiveness, 3) assurance, 4) empathy and 5) tangible. According to Parasuraman, Zeithaml and Berry (1985), they defined each dimensions as followsTable 3 SERVQUAL 5 DimensionsReliabilityAbility to perform the promised service dependably and accuratelyResponsivenessWillingness to help customers and provide prompt serviceAssuranceKnowledge and courtesy of employees and their ability to inspire trust and confidenceEmpathyCaring, individualized attention th e firm provides its customersTangiblePhysical facilities, equipment, and appearance of personnel(Parasuraman et al, 1985)The most important dimension that the customer used to evaluate service quality is the reliability dimension (Legcevic, 2008). Parasuraman developed a set of questionnaires using 22 reduplicate questions to measure customers expectation of service and customer perception of service in the five dimensions. The measurement uses a Likert Scale with seven levels ranging from strongly agree to strongly disagree. The service quality measurement of each pair of questions uses performance minus expectation. A positive score represents positive service quality (Parasuraman et al., 1988).Quality = military operation ExpectationNevertheless, there are numerous of academic studies which do not support these five dimensions. These studies determined that problems occur with this measurement method. Chen (2008) argued that SERVQUAL should add more dimensions to give the res ult more validity and credibility (Chen, 2008). Carman (1990) argued that each dimension should not be general because each service industry is different. Therefore, this model could not be used in the same format across industries (Carman, 1990). Although, there are weak points existent in SERVQUAL model, the concept of dimensions is still useful and when anyone enkindle in service quality issue, one choice which remind is SERVQUAL scale because its great to demonstrative power (Jain and Gupta, 2004). Then, it is used frequently today.SERVPERF ScaleWhen discuss about SERVQUAL scale, it can not forgot to talks about SERVPERF scale as well. SERVPERF is one of service quality measurement scale. The results of both scale (SERVQUAL and SERVPERF), when compare these method to each other, the result which occurs are quite similar. However, there are differences in measuring process. Moreover, it is difference in reliability. To classify divergence between SERVQUAL scale and SERVPERF coul d be pithy explain as following SERVQUAL use customers expectation of service and customer perceived service to find service quality while SERVPERF use only customers perception for consideration. Cronin and Taylor (1992) compare between these two scales a found that SERVPERF is enough for measure service quality. However, the SERVQUAL scale is effective than SERVPERF scale because it provide more pragmatical diagnosis of service quality (Jain and Gupta, 2004).Customer SatisfactionThere are plentiful researchers studies on customer satisfaction. The definition of customer satisfaction is also diverse. Pizam and Ellis(1999) states that customer satisfaction is a psychological concept relating to a feeling of pleasure and well-being which is a result between needs in mind and an likable product or service (Pizam and Ellis, 1999). The sense of satisfaction brings about positive attitudes which leads a customer seek that satisfying experience again (Assael, 1987).Customer satisfaction also has an influence on corporate survival. Naumann (1995) states that in order to attract a new customer, an organization has to pay costs in the form of time and resources equal to approximately five times that which is necessary to retain an existing customer (Naumann, 1995). Therefore, it leads the organization to determine quality as the ability to retain existing customers. However, not every customer will perceive the same level of satisfaction with the same level of service, because their sense of satisfaction is related to word of mouth communication and their past experiences (Pizam and Ellis, 1999). All people have had different experiences, thus they also have different objectives, needs and expectations. To ensure that the organization provides a high level of service quality, customer satisfaction surveys are necessary. Parasuraman, Zeithaml, and Bery (1994) suggested that product quality, service quality, and price are each factors that encourage satisfaction (Parasu raman et al., 1994). Customer loyalty develops when customers become satisfied with these different factors provided by the organization (Farrington et al., 2009). The following is a conceptual framework showing the connection of each element which involves customer satisfaction.Figure 3 A Conceptual Framework for the Effects of Perceived point of intersection Quality, Service Quality, and Pricing Fairness on Consumer Satisfaction and Consumer LoyaltyCustomer SatisfactionProduct QualityPerceived Product QualityPerceived Service QualityService QualityCustomer LoyaltyPerceived value FairnessPriceSource (Bei and Chiao, 2001)Understanding the critical elements described above, how they are related, and how they help the organization is a foundation to success in the service industry.Data requiredThe information required for this study would be based in information collected from Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok customers. This research also requires the use of SERVQUAL as the main model to help measure service quality. Furthermore, may utilize some other theories from journal articles and textbooks which are related to this research. Other sources of information may include Shangri-La Hotel and Resorts information, particularly with regards to general information and occupancy data as required supporting in this research.Data sourcesThis research will utilize the following two types of dataPrimary data The primary data for this research will be collected from nose candy hotel customers who stay at the Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok for to the lowest degree one night. The guests will be selected by simple random sampling technique, and they will fill out questionnaires regarding hotel service quality. The process of data collection shall be conducted from July to August, 2010.Data collection techniquesThis research would be collects the data from 100 of customers of Shangri-La hotel, Bangkok who stay at the hotel at to the lowest degree one night. The researcher would be select population sample by employ random sampling method and using questionnaire as the tools. The measuring service quality instrument in this research is SERVQUAL. The questionnaire composes of three parts as followingFirst part is about demographic data of customers 1) gender, 2) age, 3) country of resident, 4) reason for stay, and 5) why they selected Shangri-La hotel, Bangkok as a place to stay.Second part, it would be focusing on customers expectation of service quality (customers expectations) and received service quality (customers perceptions), in this area customer would answer both of these two aspects into SERVQUAL dimensions. This research would use Likerts scale to measure into five point scales. Likerts scale is a instrument to help measure attitude and opinion (Laerhoven et al., 2004). On the customers expectation question side and customers perception question side would be ask customer to give rate ranging from Strongly Disagree 1,2,3,4,5 Strongly Agree.Third part would be ask customer one question about their satisfaction of overall hotel service quality. In addition, researcher would leave the area for customer to add any recommendation.Data analysisAs for this research would be use R software (R Development Core Team, 2009) to help analyze questionnaire survey. Then would be using descriptive analysis and present it as table form, pie chart, and percentage calculated would be show. The standard deviation (SD) and mean are also would include.TimelineResearcher has 13 weeks to process this report. This research process began on may 22, 2010. Due date of research proposal is on June 20, 2009. As for research final report is require to be submit on August 22, 2010Table 4 TimelineResearch MethodologyThe precise measurement of hotel service quality is vital in order to be success in the hotel business. Because it helps hotel management to understand the hotel service quality level which hotel staff provide to customer. Without an appropriate measurement, it would be difficult to understand the expectation and satisfaction of customer and moreover, it would be difficult to create the strategies to upgrade hotel service quality. This research survey adopted the questionnaire 25 parallel items from (Mey et al., 2006) which is proper use to measure in hotel service quality industry, instead of using the original SERVQUAL questionnaire of 22 parallel items which establish by (Parasuraman et al., 1988). This research uses the quantitative as the main methods.Refer to the questionnaire, this research intends to identify and analyze the gaps between customer expectations and customer perceives service quality. The objective of this paper is to measure customer satisfaction and hotel service quality of the Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok. The questionnaire survey was divided into three categories. The first family line was demographic data and travelling characteristics of respondents. The second category was to investigate the customer expectation and customer perception regarding hotel service quality by using SERVQUAL dimensions. In this part of questionnaire were on 5-point Likert scale ranging from Strongly Disagree 1,2,3,4,5 Strongly Agree. The last category was asked one question about the overall satisfaction regarding the Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok service quality.Generally, the five stars hotel even in Bangkok had a strong policy which concern with guest privacy issues and not allowed the external people to do survey in the hotel. However, the researcher had been trainee and employee at the Shangri-La Hotel, Ba ngkok for two years with this reason, the hotel was confidence and permits the researcher to do survey eventually, because the hotel saw that this research survey would gain more benefits to the hotel than disadvantage. The SamplingThe researcher faced the problems during doing the survey the questionnaire survey prepared for customer at the hotel check-in/ out counter. In the beginning presence office attendant was given the questionnaire survey to customers when they are check-in and aim to get it back after they are check-out. Most of customers got the questionnaire survey from front officer, but indeed they are not completed it questionnaire. To reduce uncompleted questionnaire, the front office attendant was change to given questionnaire survey to customer during they were checking-out instead, and return it from customer promptly. However, the front office attendant was not enforced customer to fill out the questionnaire, if they were reluctant. The samples were 100 hotel cust omers who stay at the Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok at least one night. However, the researcher collected data from 100 hotel respondents as aims. Results and AnalysisThe questionnaire composes of three sections as followingFirst SectionIt is about demographic data of customers 1) gender, 2) age, 3) country of resident, 4) reason for stay, and 5) why they selected Shangri-La hotel, Bangkok as a place to stay.Demographic DataGender of respondentAccording to result, it indicated that the majority of the Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok customer were female than male. Ernest Green Essay -- essays research papers fc

Ernest Green doneout the American South, of many Negros childhood, the system of segregation determined the patterns of life. Blacks att give noticeed freestanding schools from whites, were barred from pools and parks where whites swam and played, from cafes and hotels where whites ate and slept. On sidewalks, they were expected to step aside for whites. It took a brave person to challenge this system, when those that did suffered a white storm of rancour. Affronting this hatred, with care from the Federal Government, were nine cour come onous school children, permitted into the 1957/8 school year at poor Rock Central postgraduate. The unofficial leader of this band of students was Ernest Green. The children of Little Rock Arkansas never doubted that, like every other southern Negro, they lived in an unequal, segregated society. In the twentieth century, the black population of Arkansas tranquil endured periodic beatings, arrests and daily racial taunts at the slightest provoca tion. However, the law was turning in the Negroes favour. Various organisations including the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP) and Negro produced newspapers fought for an end to racial discrimination and for the advancement of the black population. They began to assert political and economic pressure against citizens, organisations and governments violating human rights. The victory in the 1954 Brown Vs Board of Education typesetters case granted the Federal Government the ability to pass school integration laws permitting Negro children to attend white schools. This was a great forward step in achieving true equality . Virgil Blossom, of the Little Rock school board, consented to nine black children integrating into Central High on September 4th 1957, 3 days after the United States Supreme Court decision. Testament to his resilience and determination in the face of angry segregationists, Ernest false the role of head of his family at the age of sixteen, after his fathers death in 1953. Ernests mother, an elementary school teacher, and his younger brother Scott both respected this new allotment Ernest assumed at such a young age. His mother knew it was useless attempting to persuade the headstrong Ernest to reconsider attendance at Little Rock Central High School after he had been selected as one of the nine Negro children to attend. Students were selected based ... ...e to breach Supreme Court sovereignty would render the different minorities, residing in the United States, helpless to further governmental legislature justifying racial discrimination. In their struggle to preserve racial inequality segregationists immorally resorted to using violence against children. Through a sharp realisation of the shameful discrimination directed at small children the world perceived an inconsistency in a nation that preached license for all, though denied the very same right to its children. Ernest Green and the other eight studen ts learned unmistakably that they possessed irresistible power during the crisis but only if they realize it and united against discrimination and racism.BibliographyBates, Daisy, The Long Shadow of Little Rock, University of Arkansas Press, Fayetteville, 1987.Degler, Carl N., Neither Black Nor White, The Macmillan Company, New York, 1971.Jakoubek, Robert, Martin Luther King, Jr., Chelsea House Publishers, New York, 1989.Levine, Ellen, Freedoms Children, G. The Real World or the Fake World :: Literature Science Fiction Books Papers

The strong World or the Fake WorldReal World or Fake World? Science Fiction not only deals with science in todays domain of a function, but also with science in the future. In the futuristic novel Snow Crash, by Neal Stevenson, and in the movie The Matrix computers become a huge part of the future society. Even though engineering advances so much in futuristic societies, these futuristic societies still sh are some of the same aspects of todays world. Snow Crash and The Matrix express what life in the future might become. Both the novel and the movie have similarities and differences. Snow Crash is a novel dealing with the near future. Even though the characters personify on the west coast of the Americas, the whole world has been destroyed by creation. In this book the main characters and any other human are equal to freely choose between both worlds. The Matrix also takes place in the future. The Matrix is a futuristic time when the world has become pitch-black and gloomy fr om the result of machines that were built by humans taking over and controlling their creators. Already there are similarities between these two works. Slowly the humans destroy their own civilizations over time in one way or the other. One aspect the future holds in these works is the idea of having two different worlds. In the film the two different worlds are the realistic world in which machines use humans as energy sources, and the intercellular substance. In the matrix humans are unaware they are in a fake world unless they are freed and detached from the system which controls them. Until they are detached or if they are never detached, humans have no idea of what the real world is. In the novel the characters are totally aware when they go into the fake world which is referred to in the novel as the metaverse. In the novel the real world is so destroyed that the metaverse is a way for society to get away from it and be who they want to be instead of who they are. Humans are a ble to choose who their avatar, or what their character is, in the metaverse. They are free to be who they want to be with only a few limitations. For example, they are not allowed to be any size they want to be because if they decided to be a large avatar there would be a metaverse filled with giants overwhelming the other avatars.

Loyalty Of Employee :: essays research papers

Different cultures place varying determine on loyalty to the employer. In some countries, most notably in Asia, there is a high degree of loyalty to one company. However, in most European countries and the United States, loyalty at ones employer is not highly values instead it is considered more rational and reasonable for an employee to change jobs whenever it is warranted to achieve the optimal overall career. Both of these positions have advantages and disadvantages. In cultures that value loyalty to the employer, a mannikin of family relationship seems to develop between employer and employee. It is a reciprocal arrangement, which the employer is concerned with assisting the employee to develop to his or her full potential and the employee is concerned ab kayoed optimizing the welfare of the company. The negative vista to absolute loyalty to one company is that an employee may stay in one job that he or she has outgrow and may miss out on opportunities to develop in new direct ions. From the employers point of view, the employee may be burdened with employees whose skills no pineer match the needs of the company. In cultures in which it is quite acceptable to change jobs every few years, employees butt joint build the career they choose for themselves. They can stay with one company as long as it is mutually beneficial to the company and employee. As long as good relationship exists and the employees career is advancing at an acceptable pace, the employee can remain with a company. But at any time the employee is free to move to another company, perhaps to achieve a higher position, to move to a new area, or to find anew situation that is more suitable for his or her personality.
